Concert: Eboracum Baroque

Concert: Eboracum Baroque

August 17, 2013

Eboracum Baroque return to the Edinburgh Fringe with an exciting programme of music by Purcell. Dido and Aeneas, Purcell’s classic tale of love and betrayal sits alongside one of his lesser known works, Bonduca. This tells the story of the Celtic warrior queen, Boudicca and her fight and eventual downfall at the hands of the Roman Empire. This fully staged production of Dido and Aeneas, featuring period instruments is a true classic of the baroque repertoire full of heartache and sorrow, which contrasts with the war-like cries of the British druids and their warrior queen.
'With an excellent chorus, their ensemble singing is very tightly together, with a lovely balance, spot-on intonation and strong delivery' - The Herald, August 2012.
